A. Why are we unequal?
B. Today gender equality is one of the hot discussed issues in the world. It is considered to be the most important human right to ensure peace and harmony in society and leads to productivity and sustainable economic growth of every country. But why does humanity still face gender inequality matters worldwide?
C. There are a number of reasons which might cause gender imbalance in society. On the top, family values could be the root for this scene. Even though the world is changing due to socio-economic developments, most countries do not ignore their cultural factor. Families treat sons as a prospective breadwinner whereas daughters are brought up to be a good homemaker. These old-fashioned ideas still prevent the society from establishing new values which may be more relevant for the future generation.
D. Next, gender upbringing stereotypes determine a society how boys and girls should and would behave. Boys are expected to be strong, competitive and sometimes aggressive. Girls should be insecure and low intelligent who have to obey her husband in future. Therefore, unknowingly we will present dolls and kitchen dishes for girls whilst boys play with construction sets which can block girls from acquiring very important skills.
E. Lastly, gender stereotypes can distribute men and women’s potentials irregularly. Still there are “typical” jobs for men like programming or engineering and for women such as teachers, nurses and accountants which, hence, cause imbalance in earnings among both genders.
F. Undoubtedly, parentage values and gender stereotypes have been penetrated deeply in every society. However, by changing our mindset we can help our children overcome the incorrect ideas. Parents can support their offspring and encourage confidence to avoid the fixed beliefs of society.
