10 Read the theory. Fill in: it or there. it/there
We use it/there as the subject when there is no
natural subject in a sentence:
• to talk about weather/time/distance. It's quite
windy today. It's 10 o'clock. How far is it to Taraz?
• to comment on/identify something/somebody.
It was great to be there. It's nice to meet you. Who
is it? It's Ann.
• to introduce something new. There's a concert
this evening.
• to say that something exists in a particular place.
There is a cinema in the mall.
