During the Great Patriotic War soldiers courageously defended our homeland. Many of them died. Some of the victims were identified; others were buried in mass graves. In many cities monuments were built near such graves.

In the center of Moscow there is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Eternal Flame burns there in the middle of the bronze star. The tombstone is decorated with a bronze composition consisting of helmet on the battle flag. The complex also includes the alley of hero cities.

People lay flowers on the grave. Many visitors come here to honor the memory of soldiers who died for our Motherland.

This place evokes sad thoughts. Many of the soldiers died very young. And a lot of survivors were crippled. Their generation experienced a great hardships.

We must remember the heroism of these people. Thanks to them, our country exists. Thanks to them, we live.
