This process makes  our planet much warmer than it would be without an atmosphere. The problem is that human activities are changing the Earth's natural greenhouse effect. Burning fossil fuels like coal and oil puts more carbon dioxide into our atmosphere and the rising temperature on the planet can lead to ice melting and climate change.
