Title: A Friend in Need
Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived two best friends, Jack and Tom. They were inseparable and always there for each other. One sunny day, while playing by the river, Jack slipped and fell into the cold water. He couldn't swim, and panic consumed him. Tom, without hesitation, jumped in to save his friend.
As Jack struggled to stay afloat, a kind fisherman passing by heard his cries for help. He quickly threw a lifebuoy towards Jack. With the fisherman's timely help, both friends were rescued and brought to safety.
Later, as they sat by the riverbank, Jack expressed his gratitude to Tom. "Thank you, Tom. You risked your life to save me," said Jack, tears of gratitude filling his eyes.
Tom smiled and replied, "That's what friends are for."
In this story, the scene is set in a small village by the river. The events are organized in a logical order, starting with the friends playing by the river, Jack falling into the water, the fisherman's intervention, and their gratitude towards each other. Speech is included to show the characters' dialogue, using speech marks (" "). Relevant past tenses are used, such as 'lived,' 'slipped,' 'fell,' 'jumped,' 'heard,' 'threw,' 'rescued,' 'brought,' and 'smiled.'
I hope this example helps you understand how to write your own story for the competition. Remember to be creative and have fun with it! Good luck!
