Text 1 The Mayflower It was in 1620 in the time of king James 1st. English people did not like their king and they called him “a foolish king of England”. Many of English people left England and went to live to other countries. In September, 1620, a small ship ”The Mayflower” left England. For seven long weeks “The Mayflower” sailed through the storms of the Atlantic Ocean. And at last people saw land. It was Northern America. Some men left “The Mayflower” and went ashore to find a good place to live. By January 1621 the built a village and called it “New Plymouth”. But it was winter and people sometimes had nothing to eat. They were tired and cold. More and more of them fell ill. Many people died. In spring some Indians came to the village and helped the white men to build houses and plant corn. All the Indians, who came to the village called the Englishmen “Yankee”, and since that time “Yankee” has become the name of the white man of America. In autumn, the harvest was very good and white people decided to make a holiday diner. They invited the Indians to this dinner and Indians brought wild turkeys as a present. The people of “New Plymouth” called this holiday “Thanksgiving Day” and it became a national holiday of America. 2. Найдите грамматические ошибки в предложениях.
