Спереводом.учила в школе 10 лет назад.уже все почти забыла. нужно! 1. прочтите и переведите письменно на язык текст: the tides. long ago, people living near the atlantic sea coast noticed that the level of the ocean rose and fell twice every day. they saw that this did not always happen at the same time, at the same hour, but that it happened regularly. they called this the tide. so, tides are the daily forward and backward movements of the sea, flowing constantly in the same direction at a given place. people did not understand the cause of the tides. but they noticed that there is some connection between the moon and the tides. today we know that the tides are chiefly caused by the tug of the gravity between the earth and the moon, and a little bit by the sun. along most seashores, the water reaches its highest level twice a day. if high tide is at noon on a certain day, it will again be high tide at about 25 minutes past midnight. about halfway between the two high tides, the waters sink back to their lowest level – which is called low tide. twice each month, when the moon is full, and when it is new, the sun, the moon and the earth are in a direct line with each other. then both – the sun and the moon pull together at the waters of the ocean, and the highest tides come. twice a month, when just a quarter of the moon is visible, the sun, the earth and the moon form a triangle. at this time, the pull of the moon and the sun on the ocean waters is weakest, for they are pulling against each other. then we have the lowest tides. the difference between high and low tide may be a foot or two in some places, while in other places the difference may be as much as 40-50 feet.
