Sir Isaac Newton was often so deeply interested in difficult problems that he became quite absent-minded. One day a gentleman came to see him, but was told that Sir Isaac had been busy in his study since that morning, and that nobody was allowed to disturb him.
As it was dinner time, the visitor sat down in the dining room to wait for the scientist. The servant came and placed a boiled chicken under a cover on the table. The gentleman, feeling very hungry, ate the chicken, and covering up the skeleton, asked the servant to prepare another one for his master.
Before the second chicken was ready the scientist entered the room, apologizing for his delay. Then Sir Isaac added that as he felt rather tired and hungry, he hoped that the visitor would excuse him a little longer, and after dinner he would be at the gentleman’s service. With those words Newton 18 lifted the cover, without any emotion turned round to his visitor and said that what a strange set the scientists were. As he himself quite forgot that he had dined already!
At this moment the servant brought in the other chicken. The visitor explained how matters stood. After a hearty laugh, the hungry scientist sat down to dine.

I. The text describes how Isaac Newton forgot if he had dinner.

Explanation: The passage mentions that Sir Isaac Newton became so deeply interested in difficult problems that he often became absent-minded. In this particular situation, he had been busy in his study and had forgotten that he had already eaten dinner, which is described in the text.

II. The sentence (1-4) which best fits the story is: 1. He was busy in his study when a visitor came.

Explanation: This sentence accurately describes the situation at the beginning of the story, where the visitor is told that Sir Isaac Newton had been busy in his study since the morning and should not be disturbed.

III. The sentence (1-4) which doesn't fit the story is: 4. The visitor ate the chicken and cooked another one.

Explanation: In the story, the visitor eats the chicken and covers up the skeleton, then asks the servant to prepare another one for Sir Isaac Newton. However, the sentence suggests that the visitor cooked another chicken, which is not mentioned in the text.

IV. The best heading for the text is: 2. An Absent-Minded Scientist.

Explanation: The story revolves around the absent-mindedness of Sir Isaac Newton. The events in the text highlight his forgetfulness and how it affects his interactions with the visitor. Therefore, "An Absent-Minded Scientist" accurately represents the main theme of the passage.

V. Antonyms of the words in the text are:

1. attentive, practical - inattentive, impractical
2. be forbidden - be allowed
3. to drop - to lift
4. raw (meat) - boiled

Explanation: The text mentions the opposite meanings of these words. The antonyms are based on the context provided in the passage.

VI. Similar words or expressions in the text are:

1. express regret for something - apologize for his delay (mentioned in the text)
2. any strong feeling - emotion (mentioned in the text)
3. a guest - visitor (mentioned in the text)
4. make something easier to understand - explain (not explicitly mentioned in the text, but the action of Newton turning round to his visitor to say something can be seen as an attempt to make the situation easier to understand)
