British customs and traditions.
Every nation and every country has its own traditions and customs. But when we
speak about British traditions we always remember that there are four parts in
Britain - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Traditions are different in
these parts of the country October 31 is Halloween. And there are always a
lot of parties on October 31s. At these parties people wear masks and they dress
as ghosts and witches. Some people make special Halloween lamps from a large
pumpkin. First they cut the middle of the pumpkin, then they cut holes for the eyes,
nose and mouth, and finally they put a candle inside the pumpkin
There are a lot of Christmas and New Year traditions in Great Britain. Every
year the people of Norway give the city of London a present. It is a big Christmas
tree and it stands in Trafalgar Square. In Britain the most important meal on
December 25 is Christmas dinnera roast turkey with potatoes, carrots and other
vegetable, and then after the turkey, there is Christmas pudding
