2. He feared lest his house (would have been broken) into.

3. He wished he (had not dealt) with those people. It was so unpleasant!

4. It’s about time you (left) me in peace.

5. It’s impossible that they (had not recognized) each other. Of course, they did!

6. He spoke softly as though he (had been) afraid of being overheard.

7. Even if you (wear) a badge at the party, I (will recognize) you.

8. She arranged that the Forrests (came) to her place.
