Why can't you keep wild animals at home?

It seems to me that to keep wild animals at home is wrong, because they were born free and not well suited to life in captivity. Wild animals are afraid of humans because they consider them to be their enemy.  Because of this, the animals get sick, and some little birds even die from fear.
