The action takes place on Earth during the Ice Age. sabertooth Scrat the squirrel digs his only acorn into the ground to stock up, causing a glacier to collapse and almost loses his life. After Scrat is almost crushed by a huge number of animals that migrate to warmer climes, fleeing from frost.
