OUR PLANET IS OUR HOME
We live on the Earth. It is our only home but the mankind seems not to
understand it. People don’t care about the environment and their activities cause
problems for it.
What is the environment? It is everything which surrounds us: nature, climate, soil
and all living beings. The environment is necessary for our life and survival. We
need clean water to drink, air to breathe and healthy food to eat.
Every day we hear about environmental problems: pollution, acid rain, climate
change and destruction of rainforests. People take from nature as much as they can.
They cut down forests and destroy natural habitats of different animals.
Deforestation causes floods and dust storms and it can make animals and plants
become extinct.
Plants and factories pollute land, water and air with their toxic waste. Pollution
kills plants and animals, affects people’s health. A lot of plants and animals are
endangered. They might disappear if we don’t help them.
Rainforests are the lungs of our planet. If people continue to cut them down, we
will have less clean air to breathe. They are also home for more than a half of the
world’s plant and animal species.
Our climate is changing and getting hotter because people’s activity causes the
greenhouse effect.
However, our future is in our hands and we can do a lot to protect our planet.
