Peter I (Peter the Great) was born on the 30th of May in 1672.

He was a very tall man.

He was one of the most outstanding tsars in Russian history.

In his childhood Peter was a healthy and clever child.

In 1696 Peter became the absolute ruler.

Peter I founded Saint-Petersburg in 1703. He built it very quickly. Petersburg is situated on water.

In October 1721 Peter became Emperor of All Russia.

Не opened a lot of schools.

Peter I travelled much in Europe.

He changed the Russian government and military system.

He played a great part in Russian history.

He married twice.

Peter I had two wives and 14 children but only 3 of his children survived to adulthood.

Peter I died on the 8th of February in 1725.
