написати твір про англомовного друга, який збирається приїхати у Київ літом! потрібно щоб там було про визначні місця і про те як ти радий його зустріти
Hi there! I'd love to be your friend! My name is Alina. I'm nineteen years old!
I remember the last holidays very much, because I went to Kiev, our relatives live there.
Kiev is the capital of Ukraine, a very beautiful and most ancient city on the banks of the Dnieper. From the "Tale of Bygone Years" I know the legend about the founding of Kiev by three brothers Kiy, Schek and Khoriv and their sister Lybid on the mountain above the Dnieper, which is now called Starokievskaya. The eldest of the brothers, Kiy, became a prince of the Polyan tribe and, according to the chronicler Nestor, was the first to reign in Kiev in 882. Prophetic Oleg, as the "Tale of Bygone Years" tells, said: "Let this city be the mother of Russian cities." That is probably all I knew about the city in which I was going to spend a whole week.
On the very first day of my stay in Kiev, I was convinced that this city has a developed industry, modern residential areas, amazing historical monuments. Much remains in it from that legendary city, which amazed numerous foreign guests with its power and splendor. You can wander for hours on its streets, squares and admire. For a whole week my relatives familiarized me with this wonderful city. Where I have not visited: on Independence Square, in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, in the botanical garden, in the hydro park, at VDNKh and even climbed the funicular.
I admired the St. Sophia Cathedral, founded by Jaroslav the Wise, walked around the Mariinsky Park, where the residence of the President of Ukraine, the Mariinsky Palace, is located, and the building of the Verkhovna Rada stands nearby.
I really liked it on Khreshchatyk. We went for a walk along this famous street on Sunday, this day was especially crowded. There I saw a mime show, watched a competition of youth dance groups, saw how the shooting of the TV program "Karaoke on the Maidan" was going on.
Khreshchatyk is a small but wide street with beautiful shops and cozy cafés, in one of which we had lunch. Near Khreshchatyk is the equally famous Independence Square. There was a reconstruction, and now it is the most visited place by tourists and people of Kiev, especially on holidays and weekends. On the square there is a statue of the Archangel Michael, the patron saint of the city, and below it are the distances between Kiev and all regional centers of Ukraine. The fountains and many beautiful flowers give the square a special charm.
I can talk about Kiev for a very long time. I like to show the photos to friends and acquaintances that I took during the trip. Furthermore, I dream to visit this wonderful city again, because I have a lot to learn about it!
