Most of the differences between a city and the countryside are due to the large number
of people who live in cities. For instance,
because of the traffic in cities, we usually
have things like ' zebra crossings / paths
so pedestrians will know where it is safe
to cross the street. Cities also have a lot
of high-rise buildings, like ? office blocks /
petrol stations. Shops are bigger too,
which is why you tend to see lots of
department stores / roundabouts in
cities. Also, because of the number of cars in
cities, there are many car parks / blocks
of flats for people to leave their cars. On
the downside, cities aren't as 5 peaceful /
busy as the countryside, and they can often
be very 6 noisy / quiet. The huge number
of cars also causes the air to be? polluted /
green. Another problem with cities is the lack
of green spaces. Because they are full of
buildings, any forests / valleys are located
outside a city.
