THE EARLY DAYS OF THE CINEMA
Many people are fond of the i (1). It doesn't matter where you live a village or a town,
or a city, or a small (2) - the cinema is quite available. The cinema gives pleasure and
(3), but when we go to see a film, we don't think of the man who made it possible.
One of the first cinema films was made by Edison, a great (4) engineer. He made also
a machine to show films.
Some people in France made another (5) which could show films, too. The first real film
shows took place in (6) in 1895.
In 1903 one of Edison's engineers joined all the known and interesting films into one, to make
a longer (7). The people who saw it liked it and asked for more; and so more films of this kind
were made.
The watcher could see the (8) in the film doing something and talking, but they could
hear nothing. Words on the screen explained the situations and what the actors and actresses were
saying. Usually (9) was played during the showing of a film.
