Once the graphic organizer is complete, use the notes and conjunctions to write a summary of the extract. Start by introducing the main characters and the setting. Then, summarize the main events, using transition words (conjunctions) to connect the ideas and make the summary flow smoothly.

For example, a summary could be:

"In the extract, we meet Tom and Emily, two friends who live in a small town. One day, they decide to go on an adventure in the nearby forest. While exploring, they encounter a mysterious creature. They are initially scared, but soon realize that the creature is friendly. Together, they have an exciting and memorable day."

Remember to use specific details from the extract when writing the summary and to use conjunctions like "and," "but," "while," etc. to connect the different parts of the summary.
