Craco is a historic town. It is hundreds of years old. It was an important town with a castle, a church, a market, a university, and a prison. About twenty-five hundred people lived there. Many people died after the plague epidemic in the 16th century. After that, wars and earthquakes made lots of people leave. By the end of the 20th century, nobody lived in Craco.
Nowadays, it's a deserted city with lots of ruined buildings.
Be careful while visiting it because any earthquake can completely destroy the rest of the town.
