Arthur Conan Doyle 1 (write) four Sherlock Holmes novels and 56 short stories over a period of 40 years. Most of the stories 2 (TELL) by Holmes's friend, Dr Watson, but Holmes 3 (TELL) two of the stories himself. By 1890, Conan Doyle 4 (WRITE) two Sherlock Holmes novels but he decided to stop writing about the character. However, the stories had become 5 (EXTREME) popular with readers of The Strand and many were 6 (DISAPPOINT) when the stories stopped 7 (INCLUDE) in the magazine. So, in 1901, Holmes 8 (BRING BACK) from the dead and appeared in two more novels and a second series of short stories. Holmes 9 (BRING BACK) to life by many other authors since then, and readers 10 (CONTINUE) to enjoy further adventures of the detective up until the present day.
