2. Shakespeare's plays are also wonder-
fully interesting. In his plays he could write equally well funny scenes and scenes of
fear and excitement. His historic works tell the stories of the early English kings: of
poor Richard II, clever Henry IV and brave Henry V. Others tell the tragic stories of
the ancient world: about the murder of Julius Caesar, about the Roman general Mark
Antony. Other plays tell the tales of imaginary characters: of Othello, who murdered
his wife after listening to the lies of an evil man. William Shakespeare was born more
than four hundred years ago, but his plays are still performed and will be performed
for many years to come.
