4. There are 5 , 10 , 20 , 50 pound notes in circulation ; coins in 1 , 2 , 5 , 10 , 20 , 50 pence , 1 and 2 pounds . Commemorative coins of 25 pence and 5 pounds are rare

5. Coins are still minted in London , but banknotes are printed by the Bank of Scotland - the first bank to start printing banknotes back in 1695 , the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and the Clydesdale Bank .

6. The first banknotes were issued by the Bank of England in 1964 . They have the following dignity : All of them depict Elizabeth II .
