Существуют определенные правила с wish:

1) Мы используем I wish(If only)+subject+Past Simple когда говорим о желаниях в настоящем времени: I wish I had more time to do all homework.
2) Мы используем I wish (If only) +subject+would+infinitive когда говорим о том, что нас раздражает и мы желаем это исправить: I wish he would clean his room.
3) Мы используем I wish (If only) +subject+Past Perfect когда говорим о сожалении время): If only I had been on the party last weekend.
4) Также, мы можем использовать I hope+subject+Present Simple or Future Simple(will+infinitive) когда мы говорим об обычных пожеланиях: I hope he call me now.
