I would like to describe The Sakha (Yakutia) Republic. It has a population of 958,528, consisting mainly of ethnic Yakuts and Russians. It is well known for its extreme and severe climate. About 40% of Sakha lies above the Arctic Circle. Some of the lowest natural temperatures ever recorded have been here in Oymyakon, where the temperatures reached as low as -71.2 in 1926. So, you should wear warm clothes to cope with such weather conditions. There a lot of lakes and rivers in the region, among them navigable Lena River, Aldan river, Vilyuy river, Kolyma and many others. Greatest mountain ranges are Verkhoyansk Range, Chersky range and Stanovoi Range. Sakha is well endowed with raw materials. The soil contains reserves of oil, gas, coal, diamonds, gold, silver and others. Sakha produces 99% of all Russian diamonds and over 25% of all diamonds mined in the world.
The interesting fact that air transport is the most important for transporting people, there are 23 airports.
The cultural life of Yakutsk is constantly developing; there are a lot of places worth visiting. They are State Russian drama theatre named after Pushkin, Sakha Theater, State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, National Fine Arts Museums of Sakha and many others.
