A.I.Tekutev is one of the greatest people of Tyumen.
He married a beautiful girl Evdokiya. They loved the children very much, but didn’t had their own. They turned to the God, went to the monastery, but had remained childless. Together with his wife they always helped the poor children, gave them money and payed for their education and treatment.
On July 1899 A.Tekutev gave the upper floor of his house on Hohryakova Street for three popular schools where the education was free of charge. He helped the poor students, paying them 200 rubles a year. In the 19 th century he built an industrial school for boys. It was opened the way for happy life for many poor boys. This building is on the corner of Pzerzhinskay and Osipenko Street. Now it is Geography Faculty of T.S. University.
He had a lot of friends and always tried to help them to be not indifferent to the people he knew their needs and aspired to help them. A.Tekutev had constructed on the territory of «Aptekarakiy» garden two-stored stone hospital on 128 places where x-ray and surgical cabinets have been built.
He was a very human person and did very much for the poor people of Tyumen. On his own money he opened the drama theatre, which is now more than 100 years old. Soon he gave one of his houses under schools classes and built a national school in the village of Borki in which the training was free of charge. He gave also money on the Russian aviation, built new railways and roads. In 1907 the Russian Jorvernmeut awarded him with a title of «honorary citizen of Tyumen».
A.I.Tekutev was a deeply believing person. On his means (money) he had constructed new churches in Borky, in Paderino, in Patrushevo and Spasskaya church in Tyumen, gave money on the reconstruction of Blagoveschenskiy cathedral, which was finished in a year of death of A.I.Tekutev.
He died in 1916 and was buried in this church near his wife Evdokiya.
In 2007 people decided to build a monument to Tekutev. Soon a great bronze sculptur was established in the parkway on Tekutev,s bulvar, which carries his name. He sits I an armchair and it seems that he just about will dart off and will hasten on urgent matters.
A.I.Tekutev was a great patriot of our tows and we must always remember his as a patron of art.
