The snowstorm in our city last week (1) (was) not a large one, but it (2) (caused) many accidents. The snow (3) (started) to come down in the late afternoon. I (4)  (saw) it through the window of the office where I (5) (work) as a secretary. It (6) (had been snowing) for an hour when I (7) (started) to drive home.
The cars (8) (were driving) slowly because the road was dangerous. It was slippery snow that (9) (was freezing) when it (10) (hit) the roads. Police cars (11) (checked/were checking) the traffic regularly.
I (12) (had been driving) for twenty minutes when the accident (13) (happened). My heater (14) (did not work / was not working), and the snow (15) (was freezing) on my window, so I couldn’t see well. I (16) (stopped) to clean my window every few minutes. I (17) (had just started) the car again when my tires (18) (started) to slip. The car (19) (slipped) onto the side of the road. When it (20) (hit) the hill, it (21) (turned over) and (22) (stopped).
I (23) (felt) and (24) (looked) if I (25) (had been hurt), but I was not. I (26) (had been driving) quite slowly, and luckily I (27) (was wearing) my seatbelt. It was very quiet, with just the sounds of music and falling snow; I (28) (had been/was playing) the radio while driving. Soon the police (29) (came) and I (30) (was able) to reach home in another hour.
