The history of MTZ 80, which became the basic model for several generations of tractors, goes back to 1966. Since then, a large number of modifications have been released and more than a dozen improvements have been made. The predecessor of MTZ 80 is MTZ 50. The test tractor was officially completed in 1972. Serial Assembly at the enterprise was launched in 1974. At the same time, a number of significant changes were made to the design of the tractor. After some experience in the operation of the MTZ 80 tractor in different regions of the USSR, several modifications were developed. The main versions received indices "P", "H" and "K".
