Many young people ask themselves this question, particularly when they finish school and 2 if they should go to university or find their first job. For some young people the 3 of earning money is much stronger than the desire to continue with their 4 . But for many young people, there is another option: taking a gap year.
Some young people 5 their exams, but despite their disappointment they don’t give up and they find out what opportunities there are for them. Jack Hill is one of them. ‘When I found out that I failed my exams, I was really upset, but I didn’t lose hope. I 6 to take a year off and become a Youth Red Cross volunteer. I’m working part-time at the moment, and I’ll probably do this until the end of spring. Then I’m going to travel back home and take my exams again. I think I’ll pass this time. It might be 7 for me because I know what to expect. I’m going to start university in September. I already know what I want to do when I finish university. I want to 8 up my own business and continue volunteering for the Red Cross.’
