Task 1. Every year different natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes and volcanic eruptions happen on our planet. They destroy cities and towns, they injure and kill people and animals. Serious earthquakes have taken place in Asia, South and North America and Europe. The worst earthquakes were in Japan, China, India, Turkey, Peru, Chile, Mexico, the USA, Armenia, the Russian Federation and Portugal. People suffer from hurricanes in Asia (Japan, China, the Russian Federation, the Philippines) and in North America (the USA).
Tornadoes are common in North America (the USA) in spring and autumn. They often do great damage. There are active volcanoes in Europe (Italy), in Asia (the Russian Federation) and in the Americas (El Salvador and Hawaii). They are dangerous because they can erupt at any time. People who live not far from volcanoes should be careful. Fortunately, scientists can now predict most natural disasters and warn people of possible danger in advance.
