Спереводом текста! заранее : 3 p.s. переводчиком я и сама могу воспользоваться ; ) pskov a hanseatic factory, located at the mouth of the river velikaja on the lake pskov, on the highway between riga and novgorod. the site was probably founded in the reign of rurik. it is first mentioned in tenth-century chronicles. for many years it was ruled by the novgorod republic. in 1348, an independent republic was established, which for a long period was constantly at war with the teutonic knights and the grand prince of lithuania. from 1510, it yielded to the might of moscow. later pskov became an important trading center and a hanseatic depot. the town was badly damaged in world war ii, but has been almost completely rebuilt. pskov still has many monuments dating from the 12th to 17th centuries; two castles, the remnants of its 14th- and 15th-century old town. the kremlin, situated on the romantic limestone cliffs on the river was the cradle og today`s city. the stone walls were raised in the 14th century. between the 12th and the 14th centuries 19 churches were erected in pskov. the fortfications of pskov were built in the 13th and 14th centuries from local limestone. they defended the two castles and the central and surburban quarters. the central quarter (sredny gorod) still has the ancient market place with the first stone church of the archangel michael, built in 1339 and rebuilt at the end of the 17th century. most of the medievalchurches have been restored and c. 20 churches can be visited. about a mile from the kremlin, in the zavelichye quarter, the monastery of mirozhsky is located. it was founded in the 1130`s. the cathedral dates from the 12th century. it is built in limestone and brick in byzantine style and has remained fundamentally unchanged, with preserved remarkable frescoes. beside the churches, several merchant buildings remain from the prosperous period in the 17th century. at the old market (stary torg) the 17th century house at 10 marx street, with vaulted ceremonial halls and attic storerooms, is reminiscent of the merchant houses of the baltic. the 17th century pogankin house today contains the historical section of the art and history of pskov. pogankin house. consisting of three buildings, was once a fortress.
