Vladislav Tretiak grew up a sports kid. The example of his elder brother tried to go swimming (in the pool "Dynamo"), then became interested in diving (jumping with a five-meter tower). Along with his parents went every Sunday to the skating rink in Gorky Park. 

Hockey started being engaged in 11 years in the sports school of CSKA on Leningradsky Prospekt, where his mother led. In the summer of 1967 a young goalkeeper caught the interest of the coach of CSKA Anatoly Tarasov. Tretiak started to train with professional players. "I was proud to live in a boarding house CSKA on Sandy street that I'm allowed to change clothes in the locker room next to legendary hockey players," wrote Tretyak[3]. In mid-July, the team went to the South, and Vladislav returned to the team boys. 

Together with his team, Tretiak became the champion of Moscow, received the prize of the best goalkeeper. Even before that at the European Championships youth national team of the USSR, where Vladislav was the second goalkeeper, took second place. The performance was considered unsuccessful. Within a year the USSR national team in Garmisch-Partenkirchen achieved success.
