СОКРАТИТЕ ТЕКСТ ПО АНГЛИЙСКОМУ! ЧТОБЫ СМЫСЛ НЕ ПОТЕРЯЛСЯ! Cities and towns
People who live in cities and towns can watch a movie at the cinema, listen to music at the concert hall, visit different museums and theatres. There are lots of restaurants and takeaways and the food is better. There are lots of shops, and they are bigger so there is more choice. It’s easier to travel round because there are lots of buses and trams.
On the other hand, there are more crimes. There is more traffic so it’s noisier and the air is more polluted. People who live in towns are are busier, more career-oriented and they are less friendly.
In modern city New York here are parks, rivers, and famous buildings; there are great shops and interesting museums too. It is home to about 8.5 million people. About 55 million visitors come here every year to see Times Square; enjoy a walk in Central Park; visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art or American Museum of Natural History and see the Statue of Liberty.
But not every city in the world is the same.
For example, Norilsk is in Russia and is further than any other large city in the world. It is a very cold place, often -30 Centigrade in winter. There are no roads in Norilsk. You have to fly, when sea is frozen, or, in summer, arrive by boat. The city has a population of around 180,000 people. A lot of these people work for metal compain Norilsk Nickel.
Curitiba is a city in the south of Brazil. It’s one of the cleanest and ‘greenest’ cities in the world. In Curitiba three quarters of citizens use public transport, that is because the bus system is probably the best in the world. It carries 2 million passengers a day. Tickets are cheap and journeys are fast. There are lots of parks in the city: in fact, there are 50 square metres of green space per person!
As for the town I live in it’s Moscow. Moscow is very beautiful. I like to walk around Moscow. there is a red square, the Kremlin, Dmitry Donskoy Cathedral and many parks.
