But the UAE is building a city that uses very little or no oil because they know that oil will not last forever. In fact, engineers are now building a unique city called Masdar that uses mostly solar energy for its power. It is about 32 km from Abu Dhabi. If it is a success, Masdar will be the first in the world that uses little or no oil. Its streets are very narrow and houses are close to each other so that the shade from the houses helps keep the streets cool. Masdar will reuse about 80% of its water and change most of its waste into more energy. No one knows if it will really be successful.
