прочитать на русском Charles Darwin was a world−famous scientist. His theory [ˈθɪəri] of evolution [ˌevəˈlu:ʃn] opened a new page in the old book of nature. Darwin was born on 12 February 1809 in England. His father was a doctor and his grandfather was a philosopher [fɪˈlɒsəfə] and a poet, but he was interested in nature too. When a boy, Darwin showed little interest in school and later when he was a medical student at the university he was not really fond of medicine [ˈmedsən] and soon decided he did not want to become a doctor. At that time he began to be interested in biology.
In 1831 he joined an expedition [ˌekspɪˈdɪʃn] on a ship that went to the Pacific Islands. There Darwin understood that the living things could change with time and developed his famous theory of evolution. Charles Darwin believed that all species of life appeared from one living organism.
The scientist died in April 1882. His body now lies in Westminster Abbey.
