ON THE NIGHT of 14 April 1912 the cruise ship Titanic 1
(be) in the middle of its first journey between England and New York. It (2)

(look) for icebergs. But it was dark and there was no moon, so he couldn’t see anything. Suddenly, at exactly 11.40, the ship (5)
