The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also called Nike of Samothrace, a marble Hellenistic sculpture from Nike (Greek goddess of victory), which was created about a century BC 2. Since 1884, it has been prominently in the Louvre and is one of the most famous sculptures in the world. HW Janson described it as “the greatest masterpiece of Hellenistic sculpture,” and it is one of the few large Hellenistic statues surviving in the original, not Roman copies.
