A flood is an overflow of water. It is the flooding of town, cities or villages. The reason of it is the rising of water level in rivers, lakes, seas. It happens because of the rains, the rapid melting of snow and other causes.  It can cause damage to the health of the people and even lead to their death It also can cause material damage.
