An octagonal red brick tower protects Tersane, which dates from 1221. The building is 33 meters high, 29 meters in diameter, and each wall is 12.5 meters long. The tower has 5 floors. You can climb to the very top by high stone steps. Sunlight falling from above reaches the first floor. There is a reservoir in the middle of the tower. Like many buildings in the city, the Turkish flag flies over the battlements of the tower.
