IELTS: Some people believe that ONLY government is responsible for environmental protection. Do you agree or disagree? It is widely accepted that many people in the world believe that the government should be responsible for preserving the environment or every individual. I completely disagree with this opinion and strongly think that both politicians and people can take charge of environmental protection.
On the one hand, government is responsible in taking care and solving environmental collective action problems. In addition, the largest amount of pollution is normally created by big corporations, business units and only government have the ability to restrict or pressure them to control pollutions in a rational measurement. To clarify, there should be some laws encouraging factories to move to the countryside rather than staying in cities. This could help urban areas to be further protected from the toxic fumes, which factories release into the air.
On the other hand, it is certainly true that the impact of people on the environment based on his or her personal decisions should not be neglected because our behaviors seriously impact on environmental surrounding. For instance, a huge number of plastic pollutes our water. When humans dump plastic waste into landfills, the soil gets damaged. As plastic does not dissolve, it remains in the water thereby hampering its purity caused by people. This, in turn, negatively affects the health of themselves and other people. Furthermore, understanding the importance of behaviors, people would be able to protect the environment.
In conclusion, both government and citizens are responsible for researching various methods to protect the environment. Therefore, every individual should encourage others to take responsibility for the environment not only the government
