A stepfamily is a family when two separated families join into one. Children get new relatives, like stepbrothers or stepsisters, and when in the new family the new child is born, they meet their half-brothers or half-sisters. Sometimes, people 
think about stepfamilies in contrast with nuclear families. Additionally, it can be hard for kids to let new people enter their family. However, over time, children accept their stepparents and stepsiblings.
