All Ukrainian embroidery is covered with sacred signs of Water and the Sun. The Sun is often depicted by a rosette or a flower with eight (1) , whilst the sign of Water brings to (2) a coiled grass snake. These are two elements which created earthly life and that is why they are to be (3) as humid (or moist) material and fiery paternal energy. Symbols for the Earth and the Sun (4) with Water (5) the life-giving trinity, were incorporated in the Ukrainian embroidery since ancient time. They are signs of those (6) without which life itself is impossible.

The rhombus signs on the shoulders are symbols of the (7) Mother-Earth, which are generously (8) , warmed by the Sun (9) our life to grow in abundance. But the Earth itself is a part of the Universe with its multitudinous star system and our young Sun which for our (10) was the embodiment of sacred, cosmic fire.
