backdrop of pictures of the people’s life, and images of characters are (reveal)
through Kazakh folk songs, “kyui” (instrumental pieces) and folk dances. The
play also (reproduce) an “aitys” – the traditional national competition between
two “akyns” (poet-improviser). Such poetic competitions (be) (hold) during the
